I made it to the theater for the first time in awhile and finally got to see Mission Impossible:Ghost Protocol, and everyone involved in this film brought their A game. It’s been 5 years since we’ve seen Tom Cruise as Agent Ethan Hunt, and when I heard that they were making a 4th Mission Impossible, I was a little skeptical about it being any other than a few explosions and Tom Cruise hanging from wires, but in all honesty it turned out to be so much more than that. The one thing that truly lacked from previous Mission Impossible films was a supporting cast that could keep up with Tom Cruise. In the past, he has completely out shined his supporting cast, but in this installment alongside Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, and Simon Pegg (even though he was in the 3rd) this film surpasses just an action flick. I will add this however, I did receive severe vertigo as Tom Cruise climbed the Burj Khalifa (the tallest building in the world) and I loved it! It’s not only the best of the franchise but one of the best films of the year. I predict Oscars for visual effects, cinematography, sound effects/sound editing. Unfortunately, films like this never get the nod for best picture, but stay tuned for the “1st Annual In Morr We Trust Oscar snubs Award show” coming this February! MI4 may make an appearance.
